[ Break says that "I know" quite petulantly, since this is something that pretty much everyone says to him when he's carried. This also apparently happens to him frequently enough that he has this problem at all, but. ]

We could have just had a conversation in my room if you were worried about people overhearing. [ because that's clearly what the problem is ] The roof is a bit excessive.

Where's the fun in that? You're starting to sound like Gilbert. [CLEARLY THE WORST POSSIBLE INSULT...

And she'll go ahead and hoist the two of them up on the roof! Hang on tight Break.] Anyway, you definitely need to get more fresh air too while you're at it. And you'll get a decent view while we're at it!

...I appreciate the sentiment, at least.

[ Undyne gets an A for effort, because... Because she's Undyne. That's about the best reasoning that he can possibly come up with, but he at least grips her tightly as she hoists them up. He doesn't seem fearful or bothered by it, at least, but he did agree to this. So instead, he just sighs. ]

And I don't sound like Gilbert. He would never actually agree to go to the roof in the first place.

You're saying that like I would have given him a choice. [Are you saying she wouldn't be able to bully Gilbert onto the roof she will accept this challenge]

So? What'd you wanna talk about? [And just to complete the anime look, she'll reach into her pockets and pull out...two tea bags, a thermos of hot water, and two mugs. How did she fit all that in there don't ask] Want some tea?

[ Since, yeah, he has no doubts about it, actually. But he does think that Gilbert would scream the whole way, so at least Break would get to laugh about it.

Once they're onto the roof, Break settles himself carefully, and though he hears Undyne taking something out, he's not sure what it is until she specifies. He was about to explain, but he's simply quite surprised instead. ]

Why... yes. If there's enough, I'd like that.

[ Similarly to sweets, Break can also never turn down tea... But he at least reigns in that surprise quickly, since he did have something more serious that he wanted to discuss. ]

—As for what I wanted to talk about, it's something a bit unpleasant, unfortunately. The trial last week was... surprising, I think. I had wondered just how self-defense would play into things, but I would have preferred to find out in a way that wasn't so unpleasant.

[ He answers that question smoothly, whether it's rhetorical or not, since he does feel that it's important to confirm that he's not exactly an optimist. ]

I am sorry that it was the Lucy that had to deal with the cat, since I feel somewhat responsible for that thing... But it's the nature of this situation that we've found ourselves in that nothing could be done about it, unfortunately.

[ He loops the string of the teabag around his finger, then swirls it in his cup idly. ]

What do you think about Miata, by the way? Do you think she's truly just neutrally overseeing this?

Just because nothing could be done doesn't mean we shouldn't try. I'm sick of just standing by letting this town do whatever they want to us! [Not that she really has any ideas how to change it, she's just frustrated.]

I think she's a coward. [Yeah, that response is immediate.] I don't care if or what she's being threatened with, at some point you have to take a stand! Maybe she really does feel bad about what's happening, but that's not worth shit if she's not willing to even raise a finger to help stop it. And if what happened to Lucy still won't change her mind, then I doubt anything will.

[ Break laughs, though it's short and humorless. ]

That is a feeling I can sympathize with completely.

[ Because it is frustrating. Break is used to being incredibly active to the point of not exactly knowing when to quit, so simply waiting for something to happen... It hasn't say well with him since this fiasco started. Maybe this is a part of changing that, or maybe it's just a way to vent that frustration quietly. ]

It is cowardly. She at least seemed accepting of it, which I suppose is a sense of feeling resigned on her part... But I was surprised that there were actually people to defend her, actually. At best, she's a coward, and at worst, she's just playing all of us. Either way, I don't think we know anything about her to be worthy of the defense I heard, honestly.

[Undyne rolls her one remaining eye so hard that she's in danger of needing another eyepatch.] Well, Lithuania says Miata's her citizen or something, so I'm pretty sure there's some kind of weird country mind-control thing going on there. [Probably??? Listen she has no idea how countries work, but this is the only plausible reason for Miata stanning okay!!]

I totally agree! [ugh thank you for saying it Break she wants to join team shady now if it means getting to badmouth Miata 24/7] The people we should be feeling bad about are the victims, not someone who has the power to change things and won't. Even if she really doesn't have the power to stop the game, she still knows a hell of a lot more than we do - that information can only help.

[ It's okay Break doesn't understand it either... The Hetalias and Tourabus are confusing so he just tries to gloss over how it's even possible, but. That aside, he shrugs with a laugh that's a bit more humored, if only at how Undyne puts it. ]

Well, I haven't the slightest idea about that...! It struck me as odd, at least. Though perhaps it was because Astrid's words were still in my mind too, you know~? I can't help but wonder about such things now that she's put the idea in my mind...

[ And yet, Break moves on from that subject quickly, since yeah, badmouthing Miata is at least a significant portion of Team Shady's dumb talks... Undyne can at least be a part of that portion of the team!! ]

But yes, I don't trust that young lady at all, personally. [ He pauses to take the teabag out of his tea, and just sets it on the roof... If he forgets then I hope "a teabag on the roof" ends up as evidence. ] After all, it's as you say. Her hands may be tied, but aren't ours tied more...? I find it very difficult to simply take her word at face value. If it's true that our dead are with us in spirit, then she knows, after all, doesn't she? She certainly seemed to know about the rest of the spirits wandering about.

[ He takes a sip of his tea, then nods. ]

It's very strange. Trust is something that shouldn't be given lightly in this situation, right...? And yet trusting the young lady overseeing it seems to be taken as a given. Ahhh, though, perhaps that's my cynicism in age speaking~?

[That gets her to raise an eyebrow.] You think Astrid might be on to something about some kind of secret conspiracy group? Other than a fake anime club? [Undyne has zero patience for ambiguous talk okay let's be as blunt as possible about everything]

I trust her about as far as I can throw her. [Beat.] Actually, I bet I can throw her across this entire town without breaking a sweat, so never mind. I trust her as far as Rhys can throw her. She's definitely hiding a ton of shit, and I don't buy for a second that she's just a simple pawn in the game on the same level that we are.

[She props her chin on her hand, giving Break a mildly irritated glare.] Please! Like your age has anything to do with your cynicism. You're not that old, even if you act like it! [Considering that she knows monsters who are at least thousands of years old, Break is basically an adolescent! Though that doesn't stop him from being elderly.] Just what are you thinking? Spit it out already!

Possibly! But it could be nothing just as well. But my cynicism has me always erring on the side of caution, so I can't help but wonder.

[ But since Undyne asked for him to be direct, he will be. Mostly. As much as you can get Break to be direct, at least... ]

But so far as Rhys can throw Miata, I think it's clear that we don't trust her~. And regardless of her intentions, she's crucial to this. I believe that much is clear. So if that's the case, then we should work together to see how we can stop this. But I don't exactly trust everyone here. It's of no offense to them, but they're largely children. They're trusting where perhaps they shouldn't be.

[ He inclines his head to Undyne lightly. ]

So, why don't we work together to try and find a solution? I don't know how much can actually be done... But I dislike sitting idly. There has to be a solution, but I believe searching for it openly will lead to blockades. If not from Miata, then from whoever is actually running this.

[ A pause, and then he adds: ] The woman in that dream made it clear, didn't she? We're definitely just pawns for someone else's amusement, and quietly wait for a solution to appear doesn't suit me.

I don't like keeping secrets. If there's info someone has that might help, holding it back only hurts everyone - whether it's this possible conspiracy group or you and me.

[A pause, before she nods determinedly.] But as far as just plans go...I don't trust everyone here either. [Maybe even less than Break does - she might be relatively friendly to most people here, but the number she trusts to never murder anyone or stab her in the back is definitely in the single-digits.] I think everyone here at least wants to get out as much as we do - and if they don't, or if they're secretly working for our kidnappers, I'll kill them myself. But you're right - there's too many people here who sympathize with Miata for some weird bizarre weenie reason! Who knows what else they might fall for if they've already been tricked by her pathetic act!

[His next words get her to break out into a full-fledged grin.] Finally, someone else says it! Count me in! I'll do whatever it takes to teach these assholes they can't just mess around with people's lives like this! I'm just as tired of waiting for this game to end without actually doing anything as you are!

[ Break hadn't been quite sure what to expect in terms of the response itself, but it is uniquely Undyne... He ends up laughing gently in that weird old man way of his, but he nods. ]

That's my hope, at least... I would prefer not to keep secrets myself, mind you, but I'm overly cautious in that respect...! Ah, though that could be because I'm used to working with noblemen, admittedly~.

[ He takes another drink of the tea, and he relaxes a bit more, since obviously asking about this sort of thing is potentially dangerous... He seems relieved that it's taken well. ]

Either way, it's my hope that we won't have to keep secrets. We just need to keep our eyes and ears open for an opportunity, hm~? At the very least, as soon as that opportunity presents itself? I hope you do not find it too callous of me to say that I'll absolutely be there with you to "teach" the people in charge, shall we say.

Man, human nobles sound laaaame. I work directly under my King and we don't have any secrets! [Well...none that she's aware of, anyway.]

[squints at him] I hope you mean killing them, because I sure as hell don't plan on showing them any mercy! [just making sure] Anyway, you really think an opportunity will just show up if we wait? It's possible I guess, and maybe the ghosts can help out, but...if there's a way we can make an opportunity, I'd rather do that.

Ahh, how lucky, then! I only serve a dukedom, and we have our fair share of conspiracies and politicking. Did you know our world is about to end, actually~?

[ Break says this so casually that it almost sounds like a joke, but no... No it's totally true. ph why

He nods to the second part, and here his smile does grow a little wider. ]

But yes, I do. Ah, would prefer to kill them, I mean. [ murder is fine when it's for a cause right ] But I don't think an opportunity will quite show itself so easily... But I do think there are circumstances that might expose a weakess. Our dearly departed are likely to help with that, since they seem to have more of a clue as to what is going on here.

Seriously? [Looking impressed! Undyne no that's not the right reaction to that revelation...] What, like all of it? What happened, someone summoned a demon that opened the gates to hell? Aliens invaded and you can't build giant robots to defeat them? [She knows her human history okay she is 100% sure all of these things have happened before!!]

So...what, you think we should try contacting the ghosts again? Or do you have any other ideas brewing up?

Oh, thankfully no! That might be difficult to deal with. [ He laughs ] It's just another set of brats that think changing the past will improve things for them.

[ This is apparently a recurring problem in Break's world... Why does his world make it relatively easy to change the past? That's the true mystery. But he waves his hand dismissively, since the matter of his world ending isn't actually pertinent now. He has to survive this first to even be concerned about that. ]

It seems like the easiest thing to do. They're apparently inclined to speak, so we only need to make it easy for them. Granted, that's not something I can do very well, I'd imagine... It's too reliant on sight. But so long as they're willing and able to answer, they're a good resource for us, and the one that we actually know how to speak to. Miata's word I'd discount as useless, but we do know that there are other forces at work here. The young ladies of our dreams, for example, but also the other voice we occasionally hear.

[The horrible irony here is that this is also the exact state of Undyne's world, she...just isn't aware of it.]

So just kill them! Sounds easy enough to do. [murder solves everything okay]

Ugh, and here I thought I was lucky enough to never have to interact with Vegeta again! But I guess it might be worth it if they can actually help out. [That is a very grudging tone though because ugh Vegeta probably won't even want to help and even if he does he'll just be a smug shit about it UGH HER LIFE IS HARD] Don't forget the woman who showed up when Morrigan got scapegoated. I think that's the only time we've seen one of them other than Miata that wasn't a ghost or a dream.
