week 6 - the ambiguous private conversation time
[ At some point early in the week, Break will make a point to track down Astrid. It's probably not too hard, considering this is a small place, but! He's definitely pointedly looking for her, which is a bit unusual for him. As soon as he finds her, he'll wave an oversized sleeve in her direction to catch her attention. ]
Ah, hello Astrid~! I've been wanting to ask you something...
[ He lowers his hand back to his side, but it's also to reach into his pocket and pull out a hard candy. It's for himself, though, since he's bad at sharing. ]
Would you mind chatting with an old man for a bit~?

I have spare time. What's up? [ She still sounds fairly suspicious, although it's more "are you going to say something I don't like because if so I'm going to punch you" suspicious than "are you plotting my imminent demise" suspicious.
There's totally a difference. ]

[ Granted, Break doesn't exactly know Astrid well enough to be able to discern the nuance in the suspicious tone, but his guess is at least close. Considering her concerns at the trial, he at least imagines that suspicion is fair enough, and so in respect to that, he gets to his point rather quickly. He shifts to balance a bit of weight on his cane to make it clear that he's planning to stay for a conversation rather than just a quick question. ]
Well, it's about what you said at the cat's trial.
[ He pauses naturally, but thinking that she might feel defensive, he's quick to continue. ]
—Not to criticize what you said. The opposite, actually. I think you might actually be onto something, so I'd like to hear a bit more, if you wouldn't mind.

Astrid does in fact tense when he says it's about what she said - if he says she's crazy, she's siccing the dragon on him - but oh. Okay. He...thinks she's onto something, and quickly saying that part does in fact soften her attitude as much as Astrid Hofferson's attitude ever softens. ]
I don't mind talking about it, but I...do admit I don't have hard proof. It's a gut feeling from how they were acting and what I was talking about - and things like the "secret anime club". Inaba said she'd set up an anime watching thing for Undyne and I a while back and never followed up on it, and I really don't see why she'd go to Roxy and Alisha for that and not at least invite Undyne, who was...Undyne.
[ SHE SEEMS TO LIKE THIS ANIMU, whatever the hell that is? ]
And Faize said there were some weird notes on sins on her...laptop. [ Said with some uncertainty solely because Astrid is still not 100% clear on what the hell a laptop is. ]

No, it's fine. I think a gut feeling is about the most any of us have about this place...
[ But he listens quietly but with clear attention while she explains. He nods along, but then laughs gently, since... He's in the same boat with all these kids and their futuristic tech, at least. ]
Well, I'd admit that I don't know what this "anime" thing is, but technically, we don't need to. After all, once you pointed it out, I thought it was strange as well. Whatever it is, Undyne likes it quite a bit, so the lack of invitation to her struck me as well.
[ He shrugs, but then has a question to follow it up: ]
What were the notes like?
no subject
[ Japanese, what's that?! ]
He said there was a note that said "three left", followed by... [ she has to pause to try to pronounce what Faize told her ] "tsu mi no shi". According to no-skills, those could mean a lot of things, but he told Faize it probably meant "city of sin", "death of a sin", or "four sinners". Apparently.
[ That's weird, right? ]
